Adoption Managers

Sharel, Dog Adoption Manager

SharelAs an employee of 6 1/2 years, Sharel devotes herself to the health, happiness and adoptability of the dogs at the Center. Her daughter (a volunteer at the time) initially got her involved with the UAAC. Her son Anthony now works there as well. Sharel always has one or two of the dogs keeping her company while she works. She loves the animals and especially loves to see them adopted into new homes. People who adopt UAAC dogs often send her photos and updates of how well their canine family member is doing. Three dogs at home, care of the UAAC’s dogs during the week, PetSmart and other Adopt-a-thons every Saturday keep Sharel busy with what gives her great joy: animals. You can meet Sharel and some of UAAC’s dogs at PetSmart in Layton most Saturdays.

Terri, Cat Adoption Manager

terriTerri graces the Utah Animal Adoption Center with 5 years of service. Prior to working at the UAAC she was involved in childhood education. Terri works at the UAAC because she wants to contribute to society and make a difference in the lives of animals and people. Her home is a testament to her love of animals – it is a place where cats, dogs, a ferret and a rabbit all co-exist peacefully. She rescued four horses from the auction-block, and routinely fosters an animal from UAAC until he/she can be placed in a permanent home. Terri’s daughter inherited her love of animals and often volunteers at the UAAC. Terri and Ursula (UAAC General Manager) are best of friends and remark on how many times their lives have crossed paths over the years until they formed a lasting friendship at the UAAC.

    Cat,

Was quite excited to see your newspiece while searching for you! Impressive rescue work, good for you.
I still work with horses also, and can you believe it, I have a daughter in high school.
I sometimes see “Little Sharon” she lives nearby, she works for a small animal vet office.
Would love to catch up, please write!

I have an 8 month old black lab that I need to find a new home. I dont want to take him to somewhere he might be euthanized. He is a pure bred lab, just never sent in the akc papers. He needs someone who has a lot of time to play with him. Any suggestions?

Hello, I am in a really tough situation. I adopted a 4 m old cat not knowing that my daughter is severely allerigic to him (it’s odd but he triggers asthma attacks for her even though cats have not been a problem previously). I do not want to take this little guy back to the humane society, due to the chance he’ll be euthanized. I am so in love with this perfect kitty, but I’m forced to find him a loving home asap as my daughter cannot be in my home until I do! I’ve exhausted all my networks and don’t know where else to turn. I was hoping for some guidance. Thank you!

I was wondering if I could get some help. I have a half pit bull/great dane mix puppy about 4 to 5 months old that I got from a friend. They were having major problems with the puppy it was extremely skinny due to not eating. i offered to take the puppy to get it back into health and then i was going to give the puppy back. I was currently told that my friend is about to lose their house and will not beable to take the puppy back. I already have two dogs of my own and am not allowed to have more. I need to find the puppy a new home now that it is healthy but am scared to just use ksl to find her a home. i want to make sure she gets a good home and im scared to give her to someone i dont know for free using ksl. if you know what i should do please let me know. email me at the above email. during the week that is the best way to get a hold of me but if you would like you may also call me at 801-390-6871

I called and spoke with a really nice girl at your facility today whom is leaving you a message about a dog we rescued an hour before she was to be
euthanized. I named her Jojo and she is 8 month whippet mix of some sort. She is up to date on all vet visits etc.. and John has been working with her
all week on training sit, lay down, potty etc.. John thought we’d be able
to get her adopted fast but it hasn’t happened yet. We have ads all over and took her to an adoption event this past weekend. We are currently taking care of 4 dogs and cannot do it, we both work full time and go to school and we need help. Please give us a call… She is I would think only about 30-35 pounds and pretty small she defently has whippet in her you can see it. She is chill and smart,CUTE, she minds!Jaima Andersen 435-640-2704

Please help! I am moving across country and cannot take my 6 month old American Bulldog. She is an amazing dog, has learned a variety of early commands and wants to be loved. We had placed her in a new home but due to sever allergies, they returned her to us. I am leaving shortly and I don’t know what to do. If you have any suggestions, PLEASE let me know. I don’t want to take her to the pound.

    Brianna,
Unfortunately, we do not have any positions available at the moment. Do you have a resume that you could forward to me for any future possibilities?

We have a two year old neutered pure bred red mini dachshund and his unspayed 6 year old mother that we need to have adopted out as soon as possible. It is breaking our hearts. I have severe allergies and have limped along for a long time to try to save the kids from the heartbreak, but after a three month bout with pneumonia that has now turned into chronic asthma, the doctor says it is time for them to go. They are really sweet dogs and the thought of them going to a shelter is killing me. Can you help or direct us to a no-kill shelter? They are very adoptable but we also can’t go through the difficulty of having people come to look at them. The trauma is just too much. Lindsay 8017654905
