WHO WE ARE and HOW WE SAVE ANIMALS
Mission Statement
Utah Animal Adoption Center (formerly Wasatch Humane) was
established in 1983. We are a Utah non-profit organization
dedicated to reducing pet overpopulation, eliminating euthanasia
as a means of controlling pet overpopulation, and preventing
animal suffering in Utah.
Vision
We work to accomplish these goals through rescuing and offering
placement assistance for orphaned dogs, cats and horses; low-cost
spaying and neutering; and humane education and advocacy.

More About Our Award-Winning
Work
UAAC (founded in 1983 as Wasatch Humane) is Utah’s oldest and
largest all-breed animal rescue organization that DOES NOT
EUTHANIZE healthy animals. Every year our small staff,
dedicated volunteers, board of directors and veterinarians rescue,
neuter, rehab, train, provide shelter, food, TLC and routine and
emergency veterinary care for more than 1,500 orphaned dogs, cats,
kittens, puppies and horses in our state. Our
successful work on behalf of animals earned us national
recognition as “PetsMart Charities National Humane Organization of
the Year” in 2001 and “Utah Animal Organization of the Year” two
years in a row!
Mostly we partner with traditional shelters, pulling adoptable
animals from these shelters when their stray time has expired and
they would otherwise be euthanized due to lack of space. We
also take in some animals belonging to elderly and ill pet
guardians who can no longer care for their beloved friends.
We do not and cannot by law accept strays. If you find a stray
animal, you must notify or take it to Animal Control in your area.

UAAC is a Utah-based non-profit 501c3 organization with a
volunteer board of directors, a staff of five, and about 50
dedicated volunteers, without whom we could not exist to help save
and serve the animals who need us.
Our lifesaving programs depend entirely on donations, grants and
adoption fees. We receive no government support of any
kind. We do NOT EUTHANIZE healthy animals. To
accomplish this, we can only take in animals that are friendly,
non-aggressive, not feral, and that are healthy or
treatable.
