COMMUNITY SHARES / UTAH PAYROLL GIVING PLAN

UAAC is a proud member of Community Shares/Utah.  CS/U is a fund-raising collaborative comprised of selected local charities that provide services that help people, animals, and the environment, raising funds through workplace payroll-deduction campaigns.

Founded in 1988, CS/U now participates in more than 40 workplace campaigns.  In 2004 the gifts that Utah employees gave to CS/U agencies enabled these member groups (including UAAC) to touch the lives of hundreds of thousands of Utahns.

MAY I CHOOSE WHICH CHARITIES RECEIVE MY PAYCHECK CONTRIBUTIONS?
Yes.  All contributions you designate for a particular CS/U member(s) go directly to that charity.  If you don’t specify a charity, your donations are divided among all CS/U member groups.

A member for more than 10 years, UAAC’s animals benefit greatly from the generosity of CS/U donors.  Last year we received more than $20,000.  Thank you to everyone who contributed….for the love of animals!

WHY SHOULD I CONTRIBUTE TO COMMUNITY SHARES/UTAH?
CS/U represents 26 nonprofit organizations that serve a wider variety of issues and causes than other well-known workplace giving campaigns: human needs, as well as animal-welfare and environmental causes.  By giving to CS/U, you can demonstrate your personal concern and dedication for those issues and groups who work to make life better here at home, for the people, animals, and natural places of Utah.

STRUCTURE
CS/U is governed by a board of trustees consisting of representatives from all member organizations, including UAAC.  This hands-on participation helps to ensure equitable, accountable, and timely distribution of your gift. Day-to-day operations are carried out by an executive director assisted by committees comprised of member volunteers.

RAISING AND DISTRIBUTING FUNDS
CS/U participates in public and private workplace payroll-deduction campaigns that allow you, the individual employee, to make charitable contributions to your charity(ies) of choice.  We also sponsor an annual golf tournament.

100% of all donations designated to a particular charity will go to that charity.  Member agencies cover CS/U’s administrative costs by paying direct dues.  Once CS/U receives your donation from your pledge, we disperse funds quarterly to the member organization.
